The battery is not included with the product. Unlike the previous model we have reviewed, there are many user reviews here so we can get a clearer picture of its actual performance. Basement Watchdog BW4000 1730 Gallons Per Hour Combination Primary and Backup Pump System

The watchdog combination sump pump model we are reviewing here costs kind of average. The primary pump which is 1/2 HP strong pumps 3200 GHP at 10 feet while the backup pump handles 1730 GHP at 10 feet. The primary pump will pump as long as there is AC power coming and as soon as it is out, or the water level rises too much for it to handle, the backup will start-up on its own to do its job. Batteries need to be bought separately and acid batteries cannot be shipped, they need to be purchased locally. The system cannot work without the battery.

After All, the system did not receive good reviews. Many have complained because it breaking down after a short time. Since this is quite a costly option, that is not an acceptable occurrence. On the plus side, the pump is quiet, and it will not make problems for you in that regard.

PROs:
  • A strong pump with a backup.
  • The pumps are very quiet

CONs:
  • Problems with the pumps breaking down after a short period of time.

The pump is reliable, and it is able to handle large volumes of water during downpours and since it is cast iron construction, it will not break down easily.

Combination Sump Pump Backups – What are they and what are their advantages?

Benefits of having a backup

combination pump

If you want to combine your primary sump pump and the sump pump backup system, and you do not want to worry about compatibility when searching for two different models, you might want to get a combination sump pump to get rid of that moisture in your home. That way, the sump pump drainage system should be in perfect harmony and you will not have to worry about it not working in during stormy weather.

The combination system offers the best of both worlds – you will be getting a pump that is able to draw on the primary power source with its primary pump and at the same time, you will have a backup that is going to get rid of dampness when the power runs out with battery power or that is just going to pick up the extra slack when the primary pump gets overworked because of the heavy volume of water.

Does it worth?

The pumps need to be in harmony with one another in order to work well under unexpected circumstances, so new technologies have been developed to keep them safe and functional. That means that you have an alarm system that sends alerts whenever there is a problem so you can react in time to avoid large property damages. Most if not all of these models can be hooked up to your phone by an app to keep you updated. These systems all tend to be a bit pricey (and there many hidden costs – batteries are usually sold separately) but they are well worth the cost when you think about how much you are saving by not having huge repair bills.

PROs:
  • Combination sump pump systems are able to give the best-rounded protection available
  • They are usually pre-assembled, so they are easy to install

CONs:
  • These systems cost a lot of money
  • They require larger basins

Conclusion

When it comes to storm protection or underground water damage, spending more money right now on the right sump pump systems almost always means spending much less money down the road on repair bills and it means less discomfort when you have to vacate your home for a week or two until the repairmen finish up their work.

In this review, we have presented some of the most popular systems that are sure to keep your house dry and drain all that water from your basement.  You will need to do some research yourself since the area where you live might have some special features (a type of soil, amount and frequency of rainfall and flooding or some special municipal regulation) that requires a specialized machine or sump basin and drainage system. If you are still unsure of what you need, it is always a safe bet to buy a slightly more powerful device then a less powerful one to plan for all unforeseen circumstances.
